How do Dentures Snap In?
An overdenture has 2-4 locators or “snaps” on the bottom of the “plate.” These locators are designed to sit immediately on top of a matched dental implant.
Because snap-on dentures aren’t permanent, you don’t need as many dental implants to keep them secure. 2-4 implants may be all that’s needed, depending on whether it is your upper or lower arch and how much bone support you have. The reduced number of implants required lowers the overall investment necessary for this form of therapy.
The corresponding implants will have a particular sort of abutment that extends slightly through your gums inside your mouth. These abutments match the corresponding locators under your removable denture. When you snap your denture into position, it looks and functions almost exactly like a traditional denture. The only exception is that it is held in place by something beneath it. It’s not necessary to utilize your lips, cheeks, and tongue to keep it in place.
